Cooper Volunteers Lend Habitat For Humanity a Hand
Cooper Tire states that the ‘Cooper Way’ includes such values as ‘doing the right thing’ and to ‘be a good community citizen’. These qualities were recently displayed when more than 60 Cooper employees, retirees and family members donated their time on two simultaneous Habitat for Humanity building projects in the company’s home town of Findlay, Ohio.
This is the first time that Findlay Habitat has work on two houses simultaneously. The most recent Habitat projects began with foundation work in mid-May. Actual construction on the houses started May 30 and wrapped up June 20. The cooper volunteers participated during the two weeks of actual volunteer building, with the bulk of that activity on “Cooper Day,” June 16.
“I enjoyed my first build very much,” commented First-time volunteer Barb Alge. “Our crew was great. Everyone worked together like they had been working together for years. I enjoyed the painting, but I have no preference for specific parts of the build.
“I’m willing to do whatever I can to help out,” Alge concluded. “What a great feeling to be able to participate in such an awesome programme!”
