Bridgestone Receives Volkswagen Group Award

Bridgestone Corporation has been awarded the Volkswagen Group Award 2009 in recognition of its performance as a supplier and business partner to the vehicle manufacturer. The award was presented by Dr. Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, member of the Volkswagen AG Board of Management, at a ceremony at Volkswagen’s “phaeno” Science Center in Wolfsburg, Germany, on 18th June 2009. The award was received by Mr. Y Ryuto, vice president & officer, Original Equipment Tire Sales, Bridgestone Corporation.

The Volkswagen Group Award is an annual recognition of the overall entrepreneurial performance of suppliers. Award winners, explains Bridgestone, have to prove exceptionally successful in meeting Volkswagen’s requirements in terms of innovation, product quality, project management and development competence, as well as achieving a working partnership for greater efficiency and environmental compatibility. Bridgestone was singled out for its special entrepreneurial performance – the award certificate cites the tyre maker for its “flexible readiness to deliver and exemplary partnership approach which enables Volkswagen to respond quickly and competently to highly-fluctuating customer needs – and to do so at the highest possible standards of quality”.
