Bosch Extends its ‘ESPerience’ Website
Bosch has enhanced and extended its Electronic Stability Program (ESP) consumer website. Introduced by Bosch in 1995, ESP is a vehicle active chassis braking safety system that can prevent a vehicle going into a potential skidding situation. ESP is, comments Bosch, three chassis system technologies in one – Antilock Braking (ABS), Traction Control (TCS) and ESP. Visitors to www.bosch-esperience.co.uk can gain access to all the information on this proven life-saving vehicle technology and view on-track driving demonstrations and animations of how the technology works.
The website now includes UK specific information including market development – including how many new cars are now fitted with the technology – UK fleet research and independent safety effectiveness studies. The site also provides information about ESP value-added functions such as Hill Hold Control, Load Adaptive Control and Roll Over Mitigation. A further site feature is a section containing all the latest information on electronic stability control legislation for Europe, Australia and North America, with links provided to key websites, including EuroNCAP and details of the new rating scheme for 2009; the European campaign – ChooseESC! and the Department for Transport ESC effectiveness study.
EU regulations require ESC (Electronic Stability Control) to be fitted to all new vehicle types launched throughout Europe from November 2011 and on all new vehicles sold from November 2014. UK Department for Transport research estimates that 380 lives could be saved and 7,800 accidents avoided per year if ESP was also fitted to all vehicles.
