£6 million Tyre Recycling Plant Approval ‘Likely’
A plan to open a £6 million tyre recycling plant in Clayton-le-Moors (between Blackburn and Burnley) is “likely” to go ahead, local newspapers have reported. According to the Blackburn Citizen, the waste recycling centre, has been recommended for approval subject to a list of conditions from planning officers. A decision is expected tomorrow Wednesday 7 July 2009.
The plans centre on a bid to change vacant units at the town’s business park into a tyre recycling plant and would therefore see the importation and storage of used car and truck tyres to be shredded on the site. There would also be the recovery of tyre wire, rubber and waste plastics, the Blackburn Citizen reports.
Dexter Stubbs, director of J7 Global Ltd the company behind the plans, said: “We have worked closely with the Environment Agency throughout the development of the project, consulting them and the planning authority on all aspects of the proposed facility. We are keen to ensure we will not have an adverse effect on any part of the environment.”
