Michelin Selected as an IT ‘Best Place’
Michelin North America has been selected as one of the top workplaces for information technology professionals by Computerworld magazine. The distinction comes as part of the weekly IT publication’s 16th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which was published in the June 15 issue of Computerworld and online at computerworld.com. Michelin was ranked 18th among the 100 companies selected.
“Respect for people is one of Michelin’s core values, and this honour speaks to the company’s dedication to providing a stimulating and rewarding work environment for all employees, including our information technology team,” says Richard Alexander, vice president of information systems for Michelin North America. “This award also demonstrates Michelin’s ongoing commitment to providing our workforce and our customers with the best technology and IT support resources available.”
Since 1994, Computerworld’s annual “Best Places to Work in IT” feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, this year Computerworld surveyed more than 27,000 IT workers for the list, and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings.
“To be among the ‘Best Places to Work in IT’, it’s not enough just to seek out and hire the most talented IT people, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits,” said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. “The organisations that made this year’s ‘Best Places to Work’ list sustain a dynamic work environment in which IT professionals keep their hands on the latest technologies and work on projects that are business critical. In the months and years ahead, IT is going to become a key accelerator of business growth.”
Michelin states that it offers a variety of professional development opportunities for its IT team, including dedicating an exceptional number of days each year to employee training. Furthermore, Michelin says it provides IT professionals with the opportunity to work on high profile projects that directly impact the company’s business results.
