Marangoni Meccanica Investing in Large Radial Tyre Solutions
According to Marangoni Meccanica SpA, producer of the Marangoni Tyre Machinery brand, a key company aim is to deliver customised industrial solutions that are quality focused, highly innovative and flexible – and in doing so provide end-users with the best possible solution. The company has been developing production technologies for both new and retreaded tyres since the sixties, and in recent years has invested into developing its proprietary “Alpha R” strip winding equipment.
At present the Italian firm is placing a particular emphasis on the development of innovative equipment and state-of-the-art technological solutions for the manufacturing of large radial tyres, including tailor-made tyre assembly systems serviced by fully automatic Alpha R applicators. These compact extruder servers are interfaced to tyre building bay drums for quickly and accurately producing components such as tread base, tread cap, wings, sidewalls, abrasion gum strip and fillers.
Another popular product line is the company’s “Fast” range. This product family covers a number of customised tyre assembly systems used for applications employing Marangoni Meccanica’s proprietary Alpha R strip winding servers and “Fast” line drums in addition to customer’s existing or new component servers, turrets, stitching units and drums. Marangoni Meccanica notes that this tyre building equipment line, along with Alpha R, is “very well known all over the world, and represents the leading product in the market.” Products currently present in the Fast range include the CarFast passenger car radial line, TruckFast truck radial range, AgriFast agricultural radial range, EmFast earthmover radial equipment line-up and SolidFast, for solid tyres.
Machinery is supplied to customers worldwide (the European, North and South American and Asian markets receive the lion’s share of deliveries), and each item is customised to meet the customer’s specific needs. In addition to individual units, the company reports it can directly supply complete turnkey tyre production plants in cooperation with leading industry suppliers. Marangoni Meccanica says it works in “very tight cooperation” with customers in individualising machinery to suit their purposes. The exact specifications of each piece of machinery are covered by confidentiality agreements signed between the customer and Marangoni Meccanica, and therefore the Italian machinery manufacturer is not permitted to name those firms it is currently building machinery for, however the customer list is nevertheless impressive.
Last year Marangoni Meccanica achieved sales of 15 million euros – and this year the company is expecting this to increase to 25 million euros. Confidence in the company’s ability to achieve a per cent increase is supported by the fact that the current main lines produced by Marangoni Meccanica have not been affected by ongoing economic downturn. Marangoni Meccanica believes the continued buoyancy of its sales is the result of “its positioning at the leading edge of modern technology.”
To ensure that this success continues despite difficult conditions within the tyre industry, the company says it is further specialising in very large niche-market tyres, such as those for earth-moving machines and mining trucks. In particular, Marangoni Meccanica is developing innovative tyre assembly equipment solutions that it believes will increase the company’s involvement in sophisticated tyre assembly systems for major tyre manufacturers over the coming years. The plans, a company representative discloses, involve new unistage drum innovations.
