Klarius’ Cheadle Plant Returns to 5 Day Week
Klarius, the UK-based manufacturer of the TIMAX brand of exhausts and catalytic converters, has returned to a five day week and is reporting increased export sales. The announcement follows investment of over £1.2million in UK manufacturing and R&D over the last 18 months. Klarius was bought from US owners ArvinMeritor LVA in August 2007. After some redundancies last year, the company started employing new staff again in January this year, with the 10 new jobs created said to support growth from increased exports into Europe,
Andy Taylor, Logistics Manager Klarius Cheadle plant commented: “We used to just export to the Scandinavian countries from this site, but since the buyout we have increased the number of exhausts we now manufacture for the replacement market substantially, this means our despatch and logistics operation has been expanded to handle daily shipments to France, Germany, Spain, Austria Switzerland, Czech Rep, and others.”
“Looking to the future, the problems facing the new car market are not adversely affecting us yet as we manufacture replacement parts and people are investing in keeping older cars running. By specifying quality type-approved products made at our plants drivers can also save 3p per litre in fuel costs when compared to a poor quality replacement system manufactured elsewhere.”
