ITC to Rule on Imported Chinese Tyres This Week
The US International Trade Commission will determine by June 18 whether or not consumer tyres imported from China are harming or have the potential to harm potential tyre manufacturers, and will report its findings to President Obama and the US trade representative the following day.
This determination is the response to a petition filed by the United Steelworkers in April; the union is seeking the placement of restrictions on these Chinese products, namely a reduction of Chinese consumer tyre imports to 21 million units. This is less than half the quantity imported in 2008.
