Hayes Lemmerz Bags New Production Contracts
New business agreements with a number of existing and new customers are being received with gratitude by a financially beleaguered Hayes Lemmerz International. On June 5 the company announced its Saraburi plant in Thailand will produce 16-inch alloy wheels for the Toyota Scion. This new award, Hayes Lemmerz notes, provides additional volume for the company, which is already a major supplier to Toyota in many parts in the world. In addition, the Thai plant has received new business awards to produce 14-inch alloy wheels for existing customer Nissan as well as 15-inch alloy wheels for a new customer, Nissan subsidiary Autech Japan, Inc.
“These new business awards demonstrate the belief that both new and existing customers have in the company’s capabilities,” said Hayes Lemmerz CEO Curtis J. Clawson. “We are grateful to Toyota, Nissan, Autech and our other customers for their show of confidence in Hayes.”
Hayes Lemmerz reports that the company also recently renewed and extended its European multi-annual contracts with a leading global truck manufacturer. Hayes Lemmerz has truck wheel facilities in North and South America, Germany, Turkey and India and is the world’s largest supplier of steel wheels for truck manufacturers. “We have continued to invest in our truck business in order to provide our global customers with the world-class quality, performance and competitiveness they deserve,” said Pieter Klinkers, vice president, Sales and Marketing. “We are privileged to have strong relationships with our customers, and we are confident in our ability to continue to provide the support our customers have come to expect.”
