ContiTread Range Ready, says Marangoni
According to Marangoni, the partnership agreement it signed last year with Continental, involving the launch of the new range of ContiTread precured tread strips, is now fully operational. The agreement with the Marangoni Group allows resellers of Continental truck tyres, who already provide, or are interested in providing a cold retreading service, to use original ContiTread patterns manufactured at Marangoni’s Ellerbrock factory in Germany and take advantage of the technical and logistic support offered by the Italian group’s European platform. The agreement also contributes to the Continental Group “ContiLifeCycle” project in markets where the ContiRe program has not yet been established, or where a cold-retread product is also required.
The characteristics of the new range of patterns, says Marangoni, are basically identical to those of new tyres, thanks to the use of original Continental compounds and tread pattern designs. The range of seven ContiTread patterns are intended to satisfy a wide range of applications and positions, including all position, drive, and trailer/super single.
The all position segment includes the HSU1 M+S, a specific pattern for city and regional buses. Its main features, says Marangoni, are excellent traction, high mileage and regular wear.
The Drive segment features the HDR+, HDC1 and HDW Scandinavia patterns. The all season HDR+ is a pattern designed for use on vehicles in regional operation. Outstanding traction in all load conditions and exceptional grip, both provided by a special block profile, are the main characteristics of the HDC1, notes the Italian manufacturer. The pattern is also intended to deliver high mileage and good self-cleaning capacity. The HDW Scandinavia is specifically designed for northern countries and features extensive siping across its multi-block pattern-structure for high mileage and excellent grip on treacherous surfaces: water, snow and ice.
Finally, the trailer and super single segment includes the HTR, HTR1 and HTR2 patterns, products Marangoni notes as standing out for their very high mileage: the layout of the grove-lining prevents stones from getting trapped and drilling down to the belts. Particular mention is given to the HTR2 385/65R22.5 pattern for trailers, which according to Marangoni has shown excellent results over long distances and in terms of fuel savings.
