Rajmahaal Geared Up for Expansion in Western Europe
Indian retreading equipment manufacturer Rajmahaal Tire Equipments sees itself in a position to expand its export programme into Western Europe. According to company managing director M.V.D Rajendran, Rajmahaal already sells autoclaves, buffing machines, spreaders and other products in Eastern Europe. Now, armed with a newly developed low-energy autoclave that can accommodate up to 24 tyres, it has its sights set on conquering all of Europe.
This eleven-plus metre long autoclave was first and foremost developed for larger, higher-output retreaders, the managing director comments, and the market for such products in India is minimal as smaller operations predominate and these require only smaller capacity vulcanisation chambers. However the ISO 9001 certified company’s new semi-automatic buffer for tyres up to 24-inch in diameter provides demanding West European customers with the latest technology.
Rajmahaal’s noticeably growing acceptance within the European retreading industry is reflected in its current cooperation with Matteuzzi. Under this Rajmahaal will in future be responsible for marketing its Italian competitor’s buffing machines, tyre building machinery and inspection equipment in India. As M.V.D. Rajendran emphasised, both partners have intentionally excluded autoclaves from the cooperative venture. Rajmahaal has also acquired a licence that will enable it, in the longer-term, to produce and market the above-mentioned Matteuzzi products in India. The first units should be ready for the Indian market in June. In addition, along with equipment for retreading facilities Rajmahaal will also market Matteuzzi equipment for the new tyre industry in India, although it will not manufacture these items.
