Motorcycle News Accolades for Dunlop Tyre
Motorcycle News (MCN) has published an article this week that ranks the new Dunlop Qualifier II tyre above its nearest competitors, following a testing session at the manufacturer’s test track in the south of France during the official launch in mid March. Senior road tester at MCN, Michael Neeves, tested the tyre in the wet and dry. His report claims that the new Dunlop tyre is “2009’s most important sports tyre.”
Dunlop put its tyres to the test at the launch testing them against two rival brands, Bridgestone and Pirelli: “the new Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier II out-performs rival sports bike tyres from Pirelli and Bridgestone …. Riding on the Qualifier II, it has even better grip than the Bridgestone, but the ride quality is plusher and there’s lots of feel,” says Neeves. “…The Qualifier II is between four and six seconds quicker than its rivals, depending on the Dunlop tester, which I can well believe.”
The Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier II is the latest in Dunlop’s motorcycle offering, entering the sports tyre market. It features a Multi-Tread compound with a directional tread design. The manufacturer says that it provides improved performance whilst reducing step wear. The tyre also benefits from a new compound mix, enabling a broader range of operating temperatures, and therefore – claims Dunlop – faster-warm up times, even at low external temperatures, alongside greater wet and dry road grip and high speed stability.
“The Qualifier IIs give a better ride, lots of grip, excellent stability and faster steering…. It’s clear Dunlop has put itself on top of the sports bike tyre pile,” concluded Neeves.
Kate Rock, communications specialist for Dunlop said, “By putting our tyres to the test against the competitor we opened ourselves up to a true review. We were confident that the new Sportmax Qualifier II would perform to the highest standard and the report given by Michael at MCN proves just that.”
“We are pleased with the response to the tyre so far and are proud to be ‘top of the sports bike tyre pile,’” concludes Rock.
