Marangoni Sponsors Fast Show
Marangoni continued their 2009 brand support programme by taking title sponsorship of The Marangoni Fast Show at Santa Pod Raceway at the end of March.
This unique event is recognised in UK tuning and enthusiast circles as the first real opportunity of the year to show off and view some of the country’s most modified and tuned cars. It is a key event that is greatly supported by clubs and individuals from the length and breadth of Great Britain. The weekend weather was fantastically spring-like which added even more to the already huge crowd, estimated at well over 20,000 people.
Marangoni was proud to take title sponsorship of the event for the second year running and see this type of investment as a key factor in building brand awareness through consumer channels. The whole event was heavily branded and promoted with a true Italian feel and interest in Marangoni and its products was substantial.
Throughout the weekend there were many promotions and events which further enhanced the Marangoni message. The interactive Marangoni event trailer, complete with promo staff, live music, professional presenter and dancers drew in the crowds. The now famous Marangoni Pitstop Challenge, where a team of two raced against the clock to change wheels on the Marangoni Drift Car was again a fantastic success, and one lucky winner won the chance to blast up the Santa Pod drag strip in the amazing two seat dragster.
With this being an event dedicated mainly to modified machinery, Marangoni didn’t disappoint with the cars they had on show. Marangoni’s now world famous mid engined Toyota Yaris was again on display, but this year it boasted over 550BHP from a new Century Motorsport developed engine. Driven by professional race driver, Nathan Freke of Century Motorsport, and on standard road spec Marangoni Mythos tyres, the little Yaris managed a stunning quarter mile time of 12.6 seconds.
Also attracting the crowds was a new Century Motorsport developed sister car to the Yaris. Painted and liveried in Marangoni colours was a stunning Toyota MR2 which boasted a hardly believable 900BHP. Both of these “Mad Marangoni Twins” will be shown and demonstrated at various tuning events up and down the country throughout the year.
All of the above planning and investment is aimed solely at giving the Marangoni tyre brand a higher and more instantly recognised profile in the tuning and enthusiast markets. In doing this, Maran¬goni tyres are quickly becoming more widely accepted and more recognisable to the tyre buying public.
Greg Graham, UK Brand Manager, Marangoni car tyre division commented “To plan and stage events like this is hard work for all of us in Team Marangoni, but we are 100 per cent certain that our efforts are worthwhile. This kind of ‘hands on’ promotion of the Marangoni brand is most certainly building a foundation of brand awareness that we just didn’t enjoy before. We’ve been investing in activities like this for three years now and we see a tangible difference to the perception of our tyres.”
