Kwik-Fit Offering a SMART Solution to Dents and Scratches
A good set of tyres can perhaps minimise the risk of accumulating dents, scratched bumpers or scuffed alloy wheels, but most motorists are unable to avoid ‘battle damage’ entirely. To take care of these inevitable dings and scratches, Kwik-Fit Fleet is expanding its one-stop shop service portfolio through the launch of a SMART (Small to Medium Area Repair Technology) service. At present this facility is being trialled at six Kwik-Fit locations – and the company believes it is the first time a fast-fit company has moved into offering SMART repairs.
Kwik-Fit is trialling SMART repairs at centres in Edinburgh, Birmingham, St Helens, Telford and Slough with a mobile service available in London. The company says its technicians have been trained in the very latest techniques to make scuffed alloys, scratched, dented and chipped paintwork along with scuffed bumpers ‘disappear’ from cars and vans. The latest paint mixing technology is also utilised, the fast-fitter adds. Alloy wheels can also be repaired as part of the service, as can interior blemishes such as torn upholstery and cigarette burns.
As if this wasn’t enough, Kwik-Fit comments that it offers a ‘menu-driven’ SMART repair pricing policy – and it says this means repairs are significantly cheaper than using a traditional bodyshop for minor repairs. Prices start at £45 for paintless dent removal on dents less than 75mm wide, for scuffs, chips and scratches less than 200mm wide and for repairs to holes less than 50mm and scratches less than 150mm wide on trim, velour and leather. Multi-repair discounts are also available. SMART repairs can be performed seven days a week on an appointment or call-in basis.
“We are continually looking to expand our range of added value services to fleets and private motorists,” said Mike Wise, head of Kwik-Fit Fleet. “Our ability to significantly undercut the cost of SMART repairs quoted by other providers, coupled with our reputation for industry-leading service and the availability of SMART repairs on a drop-in basis provides fleet operators and company car and van drivers with a win-win situation.
“We will analyse the success of the trial at the various locations later this year. Our intention would be to provide SMART repair services at a number of centres across the country supported by a mobile option.”
The new service follows an expansion of Kwik-Fit Fleet’s established range of tyre, battery, brake and exhaust fast-fit services to corporate customers – new offerings include MoTs and service, maintenance and repair work as well as air conditioning recharging and glass repair. “As Kwik-Fit extends its range of services the number of company cars and vans we are seeing is rising and has now reached significantly more than 2.5 million,” Mike Wise added. “We expect that figure to continue to grow as more businesses utilise our range of services.”
