Corghi Sees the Blue Light
In the motor vehicle workshop equipment segment, Corghi reports that it is responding to today’s global economical crisis by investing in product innovation, infrastructure and new commercial facilities. The company says that it is committed to constant research in innovative solutions to meet the demands of an increasingly discerning market, an aim that the brand hopes to address through its participation in the Autopromotec show, where it will display a wide range of its newest products.
For the wheel balancer segment, Corghi presents Blue Light, a sophisticated wheel balancing machine developed in response to the needs of the upper end of the market. This high-tech system includes touch screen, real time, blue light and touchless technologies, which aim to simplify significantly the operator’s job.
With an automated demounting tool and bead breaker disc, the Corghi Monster for truck and other large tyres substantially reduces the effort required from the operator. The new model possesses a tool head that remains constantly centred on the wheel and perpendicular to the tyre for greater accuracy. The Monster is capable of working with rim sizes of up to 58” without extensions, while the clamp mechanism is compatible with centre holes of up to 90 mm in diameter. The machine also has a self-supporting frame to aid its ergonomics, as there are no obstacles to hinder the movements of the operator.
The Artiglio 500 is the new tyre changer for passenger cars with which Corghi says it aims to consolidate the success of the Artiglio 50. The new model has been improved on the basis of feedback from the market, with its lever-less system, introduced by Corghi in 2001 with the Artiglio Master, and a capability of working with rim sizes from 12” to 32”. The company will also display the EM7240, a microprocessor-equipped electronic wheel balancer for passenger car wheels, based on the previous EM7240. Adding to the wheel alignment range is the new Black Tech X series, the latest generation of Corghi’s Black Tech family.
New plant nears completion
Corghi’s investment in the future is evinced by the new Prato di Correggio plant, approximately 10 Km from the company’s headquarters, which is nearing completion. The new production facility is intended to internalise a number of production processes such as cutting, bending, welding and painting, while also introducing a greater degree of automation. Designed to operate in increased safety and with an eye on environmental friendliness, the new plant boasts a floor space of 15000 m² and will employ approximately fifty workers organised in three shifts.
Internalising the production processes will bring a number of advantages, says the company, including greater precision through automation and a shorter time to market, due to reduced process times.
Corghi is also aware of the importance of being physically present in each of its markets, and on 16 May 2009 will be opening a new branch for North America in West Chester, Ohio. The North American market is, says Corghi, one of its most important business areas. This new facility will allow the company to offer all of its North American clients a comprehensive after-sales service, and supply replacement parts directly. Corghi is confident that the increased contact with and proximity to the end user will allow the company to understand market needs and develop made-to-measure products and services for American customers.
