Belshina Focusing on International Growth
Since Belshina opened its first sales office outside of the CIS region, in Lithuania, a year and a half ago, the Belarusian commercial vehicle tyre specialist has looked towards establishing itself in even more regions. One particular area where Belshina has turned its attention is Southeast Asia, where the company is focusing upon the distribution of its earthmover tyre range. At Tyrexpo Asia the director of Belshina Asia, Maksim Smyslov, shared that the Belarusian manufacturer founded a new Singapore based operation in November 2007. It has been trading since last year and is focusing for the time being upon the earthmover tyre business, marketing these products to the region’s mines and mining operators.
Belshina Asia also intends to launch further products from its range throughout Southeast Asia. According to Mr. Smyslov, the list of potential products may include agricultural tyres, as a large demand for these in Indonesia is anticipated. Furthermore, truck and bus tyres plus passenger car tyres are expected to be marketed through Belshina Asia in the near future. Singapore, as home to the company’s regional office, will play a particularly important role in the expansion of distribution activities – from Singapore harbour all target markets are easily reached by sea.
In addition to its Lithuania sales subsidiary Belshina operates another such company in China, which it also founded relatively recently. As the Belshina Asia director explained to Tyres & Accessories during Tyrexpo Asia, the firm will soon establish yet another subsidiary, this time in Central or Latin America. Currently Belshina and its subsidiaries market tyres in more than 50 countries worldwide – and this number is steadily increasing.
