Autumn Release for Timberland Recycled Tyre Footwear
Last November Tyres & Accessories reported on plans by footwear manufacturer Timberland to launch two footwear ranges featuring soles made containing rubber from discarded tyres. These ranges, says Timberland, will be released in Autumn 2009, and the company expects to manufacture more than 200,000 pairs of shoes containing tyre rubber outsoles.
Timberland says that, when using a blend of compound produced by Malaysia based company Green Rubber and virgin rubber compound that contains 42 per cent recycled tyre crumb, the durability and performance characteristics of traditional Timberland footwear are maintained.
