Advanced ID Announces Wireless Tyre Diagnostics Solution
RFID specialist Advanced ID Corporation has announced, along with information technology provider Pro SAAMYA, the release of a tyre diagnostics solution incorporating Advanced ID/Pneu-Logic’s truck probe and Pro SAAMYA’s TiMaS, or Tire-data Management System. The complete solution includes a Bluetooth-enabled tyre tread depth/pressure probe and the middleware that wirelessly links the most important data on tyres to the fleet operator’s fleet management database.
TiMaS software works with mobile phones, PDAs, tablets and laptop computers. Benefits of the system include real-time automated tyre data management, reduced operational costs, fewer on the road breakdowns, elimination of paper-based recording and easy integration with existing software systems. The combined product has been displayed at trade shows since February. “The interest from fleets, tyre re-tread companies [and] dealers is very high,” commented a Pro SAAMYA spokesperson. “In these tough times, when there are fewer dollars to spend on new initiatives, it is refreshing to see that the economic advantages of using the truck probe and TiMaS far outweigh the incremental cost involved in putting the system in place. When the fleet operator realises that the tyre data collection process time is reduced, more data is collected more accurately, and that the data can be uploaded to any destination computer, the whole tyre management process is improved.”
Dan Finch, Advanced ID’s President added: “The system provides for much improved information on the condition of tyres and ensures the ability to optimise costs relating to tyre management. This includes saving money through improved fuel economy, longer tyre life and fewer road breakdowns. Add to that the future TiMaS software release that adds RFID and tyre tracking and a complete tyre management solution will be achieved. We presented the truck probe with the Pro SAAMYA software to fleet owners over the last two months and the response has been very positive. The fleet owners have offered suggestions regarding the user interfaces that they prefer and TiMaS, which will be initially released in mid April, will ensure that the typical truck operator can use the probe as a user-friendly tool. Both AID and Pro SAAMYA have talked to potential customers and we are forecasting sales of between 400 and 700 truck probes equipped with the software license over the next six months.”
“Our RFID/Sensor Platform-based TiMaS software comprehensively automates end-to-end tyre management, providing the first-ever complete solution in this space,” said Dr. Purush Rachabattuni, President of Pro SAAMYA. “Our technical vision and approach on offering versatile device-independent solutions compatible with Bluetooth stack, RFID and many other sensor devices helped us to achieve this one-of-a-kind solution.”
