Conti Launches Five New Truck Tyre Sizes
In the midst of extremely tough market conditions, Continental’s truck tyre division has announced a number of new additions to its line-up. Eight variants of its second-series R (regional), L (long distance) and W (winter) truck tyres are available in five sizes -295/80, 315/80, 315/70, 295/60 and 315/60. This new generation of tyres, comments Conti, has been developed from scratch and is made from high-quality products for tough everyday use with the single aim of clearly reducing costs in the transport industry.
Continental reports that the tyres deliver even higher mileage, considerably lower fuel consumption and a further rise in safety. The manufacturer adds it has taken quality and new casing technology as a basis for the all-new truck tyre design, and the tyres feature, amongst other things, a 4-ply triangular belt that absorbs the forces from lateral and radial directions and reduces the intrinsic movement of the tyre at its root. This ensures a more stable ride with increased driving safety. All tyres feature the Air-Keep system that was launched with the HTR 2. This system maintains the tyre inflation pressure at a constant level for up to 50 per cent longer than before, an important contribution to improving the rolling resistance. The full range of tyres will be available from summer 2009.
By the end of 2010, Continental will have renewed its complete premium range in the goods transport and commercial vehicles segment. “The current product offensive is a unique chance for us to expand our market position again and move on from the current economic crisis stronger,” explains Herbert Mensching, Continental managing director Marketing and Sales.
