Canadian Retreader Inaugurates New Michelin MRT Facility
On March 30 Canadian firm Pneus Bélisle inaugurated its new CA$3.9 million (£2.2 million) retreading plant in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, near Quebec City. The facility is the second plant owned by Groupe Bélisle and the eighth in Canada to utilise Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT).
“We have complete confidence in the MRT technology, as we already have one retreading plant using this technology in Saint-Jérôme in the Laurentians,” said Daniel Bélisle, president of Rechapage Bélisle inc. and vice-president of Groupe Pneus Bélisle. “In addition to investing $3.9 million in the construction of the plant, equipment and staff training, we are also very proud to be contributing to the creation of specialised jobs in the Quebec City area.”
“We are seeing a growing demand for high-quality retreaded tyres, and the opening of this plant will allow Michelin to showcase its MRT technology across a larger area of Quebec,” added Bertrand Gariépy, sales manager, Eastern Canada, for Michelin North America (Canada) Inc. “We have a long-standing, productive partnership with Pneus Bélisle, and the opening of this new franchise in the Quebec City region has been widely anticipated.”
Quebec based Groupe Pneus Bélisle employs around 250 staff and operates two Michelin MRT retreading plants, two distribution centres and 11 corporate stores throughout the province.
