BT-016 Selected as Sole OE for Triumph’s Best Selling Bike
Bridgestone’s Battlax BT-016 tyre has been chosen as original equipment (OE) for Triumph’s best seller -the Street Triple. As of this month Bridgestone reports that it has 100 per cent share of OE on the model which, like the BT-016 tyre itself, has been recognised for revolutionising its class.
This latest announcement tops what has been a successful year for the BT-016. The tyre, which successfully transferred Bridgestone’s five-layer compound technology, usually used to produce hand-made MotoGP tyres, onto the production line for the first time, has received plaudits from riders and racers alike.
Launch in Jerez in March 2008, it wasn’t long before the biking press welcomed the technological advances the BT-016 brought to the biking industry, hailing the tyres’ multiple compound technology as a key development. The BT-016 is also a commercial success story, having contributed significantly in driving Bridgestone market leading motorbike sales (particularly in the hypersport tyre market) as well has having OE fitment shares in other high profile brands such as Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki.
Other highlights include a shortlisting in the ‘Tyre Product of the Year’ category at the prestigious Motorcycle News Awards and being chosen by racing legend, Ron Haslam, for use at his Race School at Donington Park, continuing Bridgestone’s 13 year relationship providing tyres for the academy.
Gary Hartshorne, motorcycle sales and technical at Bridgestone commented: “Being chosen as OE on the Street Triple is the icing on the cake for what has been a fantastic year for the Battlax B-016. When we launched the BT-016, we knew it was an exciting development and hoped that the industry and riders would feel the same. The BT-016 is the most technically advanced road and street tyre available on the market and it has more than proved that in its first year.”
The BT-016 comes in four front-wheel sizes and seven rear-wheel replacement market sizes.
