Maxxis Reports an Increasing 4×4 Marketplace Share
Ongoing advertising within leading consumer off-road magazines, a strong presence at major off-road events and encouraging results in tyre comparison tests are all factors Maxxis says is helping the brand increase its share of the 4×4 marketplace. The Maxxis range, which Maxxis International UK boasts is one of the largest line-ups of off-road, on/off-road and road going 4×4 tyres available in the UK, includes products for numerous specific applications. Amongst this line-up is the largest complete range to fit 16-inch Land Rover Rims, plus a series of extreme tyres and patterns purpose-designed to tackle muddy conditions.
Speaking of tough conditions, Maxxis reports that its 4×4 tyres are under evaluation by volunteer organisation 4×4 Response Wales, which is part of a nationwide network providing logistical support to the emergency services, local authorities and GPs in the event of severe weather conditions and emergency situations. Since its members use and maintain their own vehicles, the trial has generated considerable interest in a potential switch to a brand that is robust, reliable and well priced. Maxxis expresses confidence in the ability of its 4×4 tyres to deliver excellent traction and handling stability in all weather conditions, while remaining robust and reliable thanks to their enhanced puncture and abrasion resistance qualities.
In conjunction with exclusive distributor Grouptyre, Maxxis is using its Centres of Excellence programme to highlight the profit opportunities tyre retailers can generate with the brand, particularly in the resilient 4×4 sector. The main products offered in the Maxxis 4×4 range are as follows:
The Marauder series, which includes the MA-S2, an all-weather premium road-going 4×4 tyre with a unidirectional tread pattern engineered for precise cornering and handling stability and an open shoulder design to ensure superior water dispersal. The MA-S1 delivers superior traction and handling on wet roads and snow, says Maxxis, thanks to its unidirectional tread design, and two polyester body plies ensure a smooth and comfortable ride.
Enhanced puncture resistance is a key feature of the Bighorn radial (MT-762), a tyre intended to deliver excellent traction in mud and good handling on all hard surfaces. Staggered shoulder lugs provide extra grip, while the deep tread blocks aid self-cleaning and boost performance and stability. The Bighorn is also pinned for studs and is available in a range of sizes from 30×9.50 R15LT to LT275/65 R18.
A mud and off-road radial, the MT-753 Bravo features double steel belt construction for long-lasting wear and uniformity and a jointless spiral-wrapped full nylon cap for added strength and stability. The extra large and deep tread is designed to deliver firm traction on- and off-road, while the zigzag groove provides more edge for off-road durability. Open shoulder lugs provide an exceptional self-cleaning capability, says Maxxis, and thanks to its tough polyester casing the tyre offers maximum puncture resistance and stable handling on rock and road.
The Buckshot Mudder (MT-754) is a radial mud terrain tyre designed for year-round driving both on- and off-road. Maxxis reports that an aggressive tread pattern, rugged sidewall and self-cleaning lugs ensure maximum traction on all surfaces, while its premium rubber compound and durable casing combat punctures and abrasions.
Featuring a directional tread design and multi-stage staggered shoulder lugs, the extreme Trepador radial (M-8060) is characterised by its handling capabilities in wet and dry conditions and improved control on uneven terrain. Double steel belt construction ensures durability and uniformity, while a jointless spiral-wrapped full nylon cap improves puncture resistance and prolongs tread life and multi-curve tread siping enhances traction on loose dirt as well as braking and driving performance. The Trepador is available in sizes from 205 R16C to 40×13.50 R18LT, including bias-belted tyres engineered for off-road competition use only.
The Creepy Crawler (M-8090) is an extreme off-road tyre that is said to deliver lasting performance plus grip, controlled traction and steering on all surfaces. An armoured, square profile sidewall and innovative tread pattern provide uniform contact, while large shoulder lugs deliver traction in mud and snow. Available in various widths up to 40×13.5 to fit 15-17 inch rims, the Creepy Crawler also features a unique multi-edged knob design and this, along with the sipe arrangement, ensures superb grip on rocky surfaces.
