Continental Sime Tyre Launches New Dunlop 4×4 Ranges
Malaysian Conti subsidiary Continental Sime Tyre (CST) officially launched two new models from its Dunlop 4×4 tyre range at an event held in Malaysia’s Genting Highlands. The two models to be launched are the MaxGrip AT2, an all-terrain tyre, and the Road Trekker 2, a product with a greater on-road focus. Both tyres are available in all CST network dealers.
According to CST chief executive officer Benoit Henry, the continuation of the company’s 4×4 range into the value segment, demonstrates “Continental Sime Tyre’s commitment to our business partners, and with your continued support, commitment and teamwork, this will allow us to face the market challenges together.”
The MaxGrip AT2 is developed for drivers intending to use their 4×4 off-road but still want a comfortable margin of safety in road traffic. It features a five-row tread pattern block that provides grip and bite, plus self-cleaning tread lugs. The tread blocks are offset to reduce road noise. Traction ridges are situated at the base of every groove to give added traction. Thanks to the tyre’s cut and chip resistant tread compound, the risk of damage and notching is reduced when driving off-road and CST reports good mileage can be expected from the tyre. The MaxGrip AT2 range is available with white sidewall lettering.
The Road Trekker 2 is, says CST, developed with three ‘S’ criteria – Stylish for its innovative pattern design, Sturdy for its strong construction and Silent for new technology that provides a quieter and more comfortable ride. The tyre’s tread cushioning system and noise-capturing pockets is intended to provide a quieter, more comfortable ride without sacrificing responsiveness. Response grooves, stabilink bars and three kinds of siping result, CST reports, in an excellent tyre that promotes enhanced steering response and provides reliable performance when braking, accelerating and cornering. The compound used in the Road Trekker 2 is also said to significantly improve fuel economy and enhance tread life.
Both tyre ranges are engineered in Germany and produced at CST’s Alor Star plant in Malaysia.
