Bandag BTM-WB Designed for Intensive On/Off-Road Applications
Bandag has launched the BTM-WB (Bandag Trailer Mix – Wide Base), a new application specific tread product designed for fleets whose trailer and semi-trailer tyres need to cope with harsh, wear-intensive conditions on a wide variety of on-road and off-road surfaces. According to Bandag, this wide-single tread product also performs well when fitted on drive axles.
Although the new BTM-WB has been designed to operate in off-road conditions, the manufacturer reports it also performs very well on surfaced roads in local and even regional service. Bandag is confident that the BTM-WB will become a firm favourite with fleets that have to deal with severe tyre wear rates.
The retreading specialist points to the grip capabilities offered by the tread pattern of the BTM-WB. The tyre also sports an exceptionally wide, stability-enhancing footprint. In tough on/off-road applications, a tread has to be capable of withstanding stones, gravel, dust, mud and sharp objects. The BTM-WB, says Bandag, has a number of protective elements to ensure that this is the case: The combination of a strong lug pattern and the compound used provides a high level of resistance to cuts, penetrations, rubber chipping and wear. The depth of the tread (17.5 mm) also ensures a potential high mileage. The reinforced shoulders are designed to shield the valuable casing against external stresses, such as sharp stones, potholes and curbs. The BTM-WB also features a self-cleaning tread: embedded stones and materials are ejected from the grooves before they can do any harm.
The BTM-WB Mini-Wing product features a J speed index (100 km/h) and is available in sizes 290, 305 & 320. These widths allow many popular sizes of wide-single tyres to be retreaded.
