American Pacific to Market Pegasus PCR Tyre Brand in Europe
American Pacific Industries (API) is preparing to introduce its Pegasus passenger car tyre brand into the European market in the second quarter of 2009. The range, which will be available in a range of 14 to 24-inch sizes will be distributed exclusive in the EC countries by InterSprint. API told Tyres & Accessories that Pegasus is the European version of it Spector tyre programme, which has been re-engineered for the European market.
According to company literature, API has built its name on developing “first class American engineered, Chinese manufactured products with a reputation for consistent quality and good value.” API says it is actively seeking partners “in most regions of the world.”
‘Tight grip’
“One of the frustrations many companies experience in dealing directly with China is that they can often feel out of control,” says Darryl Thomas, API’s international saes manager. “Communication is a much vented issue but inconsistency of supply and pricing can also make getting things done to your specification a complete adversity. API’s associated spend and investment with the Chinese gives us significant leverage that few other manufacturers can wrangle.”
API conducts all its own research and development and has invested significantly in its manufacturing plants where its engineers oversee production from development to shipping. This tight grip is said to allow API to provide customers with the assurances they seek over quality at competitive prices afforded by the benefit of producing in China.
API reports that it is active in a myriad of tyre programmes and supplies to a number of key international companies, often through privately branded products.
