Top Vehicles at NAIAS Show Wearing Goodyear Dunlop Rubber
The vehicle selected by North American automotive journalists to be this year’s Car of the Year at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit is the Hyundai Genesis. More than 50 new vehicles were considered before the US and Canadian based journalists selected their three favourite cars and trucks. The Hyundai squeezed out the other finalists in the car category, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI and the Ford Flex, to take out the top honour. And a win for the Hyundai is also a win for Dunlop, as the company provides its SP Sport 5000 tyre as OE on the Genesis, in sizes P225/55R17 and the P235/50R18.
“The Dunlop SP Sport 5000 is a terrific tyre, and a perfect choice for this award-winning car,” said Todd Hershberger, Dunlop brand director. “It represents the fact that Dunlop is the right brand for luxury and performance car owners – and those who aspire to be owners of those top vehicles.”
Keeping it in the company, this year’s Truck of the Year is one that rolls on Goodyear tyres. The 2009 Ford F-150, a vehicle the tyre maker comments is ‘one of the most anticipated pickup trucks in recent years’, offers Goodyear’s Wrangler SR-A and AT/S tyres as OE on various models. Goodyear is supplying both P-metric and LT tyres in a 275/65R18 size. Goodyear also provides original equipment tyres for the new Ford F-250/350 Super Duty trucks.
“Supplying the tyres for one of the toughest, most popular trucks on the road is a job Goodyear is proud to claim,” said Johann Finkelmeier, Goodyear’s vice president, original equipment. “This truck is an eye-catcher, and we want the tyres to play an important role in that appeal.”
