Redundancy Period Continues for Outsourced Michelin Workers
While the 240 Michelin North America employees temporarily laid off from the company’s Ardmore, Oklahoma factory have returned to their jobs, a further 110 workers, employed by a manufacturing outsourcing company, will not be returning to the Michelin factory any time soon.
The Holland Group employees, along with the Michelin workers, began their temporary redundancy in the second week of November 2008, and while the eight-week down time is over for those workers employed directly by Michelin, the Holland Group has received notification that the furlough for its employees has been extended until April, and Michelin isn’t giving any guarantees that the workers will even then recommence their positions at the Ardmore plant.
