Reduced Production Continues at Goodyear’s Luxembourg Factory
The shorter working week implemented at Goodyear’s truck tyre factory in Luxembourg is being extended beyond the time originally specified. Between February and April production will only take place four days a week, commented a company spokesman.
“The economic environment is still bad. The demand for truck tyres has weakened,” explained Goodyear spokesman Jean-Paul Bruck. Following cutting back first the Sunday shift and then the Saturday shift at the Colmar-Berg plant in November and December and closing the plant over the Christmas period, company management decided to extend the time in which the shorter working week operates. While normal production should have resumed at the end of January, the factory will now, until April, only produce tyres between Monday and Thursday.
