R H Claydon Reviews “Challenging” 2008
Wholesaler R H Claydon reports that the year of 2008 drew to a close after a prolonged period of factors which made the function of stocking and marketing land based tyres, agricultural and construction somewhat challenging. Like many others, the firm experienced worldwide commodity prices to the manufacturing industry continuing to rise, thus affecting the price of the finished product. Rising oil prices, which greatly affected all industries, alongside currency fluctuations prompted widespread re-evaluation of delivery and servicing to contain the high levels of road fuel costs and yet maintain the service. The wholesaler says that, “the most frustrating and punitive situation all experienced in 2008, was shortage of product, a factor especially prevalent, says RHC, in radial tractor tyres.
In spite of these challenges, the wholesaler reports a “solid result for 2008,” a year which saw the company add to its extensive BKT Range of Radial Tractor. The range now offers 65/70/85/90/95 aspect ratio tyres, possibly the most comprehensive listing in the mid to top sector of such tyres at pricing to benefit retailer and user alike. BKT Tyres, for which RHC is sole UK & Northern Ireland supplier, continues to enhance its range. All BKT products are land based: agricultural, construction, industrial, plant and equipment, forklift, container handling and earthmover. The first quarter of 2009 will see the introduction of radial earthmover products. RHC links this expansion to its strapline, “All-Season All-Reason Tyres”. In fact, the range includes lawn and turf, small implement, and ATV tyres too. As well as the addition of BKT, Semperit radial tractor tyres, for which RHC is also the sole supplier UK, continues to perform well and has established a firm holding in the customer base.
During 2008, as in previous years, RHC exhibited product at various trade shows, such as LAMMA (Lincolnshire Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association), SED and Cereals in Cambridgeshire, bringing to the attention of the end user the extensive range and quality of the products available through their service provider. The company’s range is further enhanced by well-known brands like Goodyear, Continental, Mitas, Trelleborg, Titan, Bridgestone, Kenda, Duro.
The company advertises its full range of pneumatic tyres available in its “All-Season All-Reason Agricultural & Industrial Tyres Catalogue (Agricultural/Construction/Industrial/Container Handling/EMover) and its Specialist Tyre Specialists (Small Imp/Turf/HSpeed/ATV) brochure.
January Relocation
RHC will be relocating its Scunthorpe Service Branch to a larger custom built location within the same trading estate. The company believes that this will enhance stocking capabilities and delivery network for East Midlands, Eastern & North East England.
