Maxxis Courts Agricultural Market
Maxxis says that it is “among the top three manufacturers of quality tyres for the amenity market,” and with its wide variety of ATV, 4×4 and high speed trailer tyres, the company is confident that it can meet a variety of applications within the agricultural sector. “The agricultural sector accounts for a large proportion of our ATV tyre sales,” states Maxxis International UK’s managing director Derek McMartin.
As an OE supplier to many major ATV manufacturers, including Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Polaris and Suzuki, Maxxis ATV tyres are acknowledged for all-round performance across a wide range of applications.
The E-marked Maxxis Wildcat C828 has a self-cleaning tread pattern which can be used legally on ATVs that are predominantly driven in fields, but also take to the roads from time to time. Its combination of durability and ride characteristics have, so says Maxxis, made sure the Wildcat is not only a firm favourite in farming and leisure markets, but also on of the UK’s leading utility ATV tyres.
Elsewhere in the range, the 6-ply rated M983 features an extra stiff sidewall and unique bar and hook tread design, for maximum traction in a variety of conditions, especially mud and loose terrain. Maxxis says that these properties make the tyre one of the most puncture-resistant on the market.
The Maxxis ATV range was strengthened earlier this year with the addition of the new E-marked SurTrak (C9208). A utility ATV tyre designed to deliver enhanced grip and puncture resistance under the most demanding conditions, the SurTrak features dual traction lugs to channel loose soil away from the contact patch and provide optimum grip as well as a durable nylon carcass for improved puncture resistance. Its multidirectional tread design ensures traction in mud, snow, and sand, while the outside shoulder lugs provide aggressive side bite. The pattern comes with a track record in motorsport competition in the USA and is available in sizes AT22x11.00-8 2PR TL to AT26x12.00-12 2PR TL.
“We’re delighted with the response to the Sur Trak, which delivers even more grip on the hillside, yet can be used legally and safely on the road,” says McMartin.
Speaking of this sort of multi-purpose usage, the company’s Turfmaxx is an OE option that the company says is accredited by all the major turf machinery suppliers. Maxxis reports that in 2007, the tyre became the first street legal turf tyre. Manufactured with Kevlar belts and designed to achieve greater wear time, the E-marked Turfmaxx– claims Maxxis – a life expectancy of up to 15 per cent more than competitors’ tyres due to an improved compound that addresses the safety issues surrounding the extra road work machines now cover between jobs. It is complemented by the Maxxis Professional Municipal C165/S, a robust, multi-purpose tyre which fits compact tractors and serves all turf applications where bullet-proof Kevlar is not a requirement.
OE trailer tyres carry the heaviest loads
Maxxis says that the Trailermaxx range of high speed trailer tyres benefits from decreased rolling resistance to deliver improved fuel economy and tread life plus low noise levels and a smooth ride. Seven patterns are available in a large number of sizes and speed ratings – from the CR966 145 R10 82/84N 8pr, which is purpose designed to carry more weight and easily exceeds the load capacity of competitor products, to what the manufacturer refers to as “old faithful” products, such as the 5.00-10 8pr and the recent additions of 155/70 R12C and 185/60 R12C.
One of biggest 4×4 ranges
In the increasingly competitive 4×4 market Maxxis offers one of the largest ranges of off-road, on/off-road and road going tyres, including the biggest complete range to fit Land Rover 16 inch rims. Many, like the MT-752 and MT-753 (Bravo Series), Bighorn, Creepy Crawler and Trepador, are purpose-designed to tackle muddy conditions.
The all-terrain MA-752 boasts rugged durability and consistent performance, thanks to a heavy duty sidewall which gives added durability and an all-position large block tread design for optimum handling on- and off-road. The MT-753 is a radial mud tyre featuring double steel belt construction for long-lasting wear and uniformity and a jointless spiral-wrapped full nylon cap, which gives added strength and stability. Open shoulder lugs ensure superb self-cleaning capabilities, while the tread design delivers excellent traction both on and off-road.
Enhanced puncture resistance is a key feature of the Bighorn (MT-762), a radial tyre which delivers excellent traction in mud and on rocky terrain and superb handling on all hard surfaces. Staggered shoulder lugs provide extra grip, while the self-cleaning deep tread blocks boost performance and stability. The Bighorn is also pinned for studs and is available in a range of sizes from 30×9.50 R15LT to LT315/75 R16.
Manufactured from a premium rubber compound, the Buckshot Mudder (MT-754) is designed for on- and off-road driving all year round. Its aggressive tread pattern, rugged sidewall and self-cleaning lugs work towards the maximum available traction on all surfaces, while the extra strong durable casing provides improved puncture and abrasion resistance.
The Maxxis Creepy Crawler (M-8090) is an extreme off-road tyre available in various widths up to 40×13.5 to fit 15-17 inch rims and ensures lasting performance along with grip, controlled traction and steering on all surfaces. An armoured, square profile sidewall and innovative tread pattern provide uniform contact, while large shoulder lugs deliver increased traction in mud and snow. The sipe arrangement combined with a unique multi-edged knob design provides superb grip on rocky surfaces.
With an aggressive directional tread and multi-stage staggered shoulder lugs, the equally extreme Trepador radial (M-8060) delivers excellent handling in wet and dry conditions plus added control on uneven terrain. Multi-curve tread siping improves traction on loose dirt while also enhancing braking and driving performance. The Trepador is available in sizes from 205 R16C to 40×13.50 R18LT, including bias-belted tyres engineered for off-road competition use only.
Maxxis 4×4 tyres are available exclusively from leading wholesaler Grouptyre.
