From Motocross the Pond
Dunlop Motorcycle has given a launch date to its new motocross tyre for the UK market. Following what the manufacturer terms a successful year in the American market, the new D952 arrives on British shores in February, giving UK users the opportunity to see what all the fuss is about.
The D952 has been developed for the multi-terrain, recreational motocross market and will work on a wide variety of surfaces. The tread pattern is based on the popular D752 pattern, though it includes slightly larger tread blocks with sturdier bases and a more durable compound.
In addition to the improvements in durability, the specially-developed compound delivers a greater level of grip, resulting in a tyre that has longer wear and more traction. Since the tread design and compound modifications make the tyre harder-wearing, more resistant to chunking and suitable for a wider range of ground surfaces, Dunlop believes that the D952 will appeal to a broad range of riders, especially, the company states, as the price reflects the current economic climate.
“This new tyre offers everything the off-road enthusiast needs to push their bike to the limit. The D752 was a remarkable success in the UK and we anticipate that the new D952 will do the same,” said Bryn Phillips, Dunlop Motorcycle product support manager.
“In America the D952 has become a popular choice for a large number of off-roaders. Motocross is a big phenomenon across the states and Dunlop supplies many thousands of motocross tyres into the sport. The D952 has impressed the US and we can’t wait to see the response to it in the UK,” concluded Phillips.
The tyre will be available from dealers in February in the following sizes:
100/90-19 57M
110/90-19 62M
80/100-21 51M
