Dunlop Receives Two Wheel Top Ranking
Dunlop’s Sportmax Roadsmart Motorcycle tyre has been ranked in first position in a Two Wheels Only Magazine tyre test. The tyre was tested in the wet and dry against the latest offerings from Pirelli, Bridgestone, Michelin, and Metzeler at the Millbrook Testing Facility in Bedfordshire.
James Whitham, top tyre tester for TWO and Isle of Man TT, World Supersport and World Superbikes champion shod a Ducati 848 to find the tyre that gave the best feedback and feel, as well as the best performance. “Straight away when you get on these you know that they are good” said James Whitham. “To get confident you need that feeling from a tyre that lets you know you can push all the way to the limit and beyond if you want to, but in complete safety. This is what the Dunlops do.”
Dunlop says that their Roadsmart tyre – two years in the making – offers “outstanding performance on wet roads and matchless all round sport touring performance.”
Whitam continued, “The bottom line with the Dunlops is lots more feel which gives you the confidence to ride how you want….. Dunlop has made your job of getting around in the winter a whole lot easier.” This is the fourth tyre test win for the tyre since its launch at the end of 2007. It got top ranking at the MCN Awards, picking up first place in the Best Product category as well as Bike magazine’s test for budget middle-weight rubber (August issue) and their 2008 top tyre test.
“As we come into 2009, we are pleased and proud to announce yet another win for the Roadsmart, the advanced technology behind the tyre is giving the results we had hoped for” said Bryn Phillips, Product and Sales manager for Dunlop Motorcycle. “The Roadsmart combines superb longevity with the best performance in the sport touring class for wet road grip, dry road grip, stability and handling. Not only is the Roadsmart a perfect match for sport tourers, tourers and naked machines, but it possesses more than enough performance to be fitted onto the most aggressive sports bikes as well,” Phillips concluded.
