Dunlop Wins “Best New Tyre” at MCN Awards
Dunlop’s Sportmax Roadsmart tyre was named Best New Tyre at the annual Motorcycle News Awards. The new Roadsmart tyre has been highly acclaimed by MCN over the past year and was praised for both its wet and dry performance; picking up first place in the Best New Tyre Category.
The magazine tested the Roadsmart prototype tyre in 2007 and, in its early stages, held it in high regard. Michael Neeves, senior road test editor for MCN, said that the Roadsmart, “breaks new ground in sports touring. The tyre is well above the rest already even at the early stages of development.” Following two years of global research, the Sportmax Roadsmart is aimed in particular at riders of sport touring and GT bikes looking for mileage, comfort and safety in the wet. The manufacturer says that the tyre also offers the sports performance expected by roadster and sports bike riders; a fast growing tyre market segment.
Lisa Faulkner, Dunlop motorcycle manager, commented, “We are so proud to have introduced this new tyre to the market. Winning this award proves the comprehensive performance of the innovative technology used in the tyre. The tyre’s performance in both the wet and dry is proven to outshine the competition and this is something we are very proud of to crown a successful year on race and road.
“Winning the award gives the tyre an independent voice and added credential. Thank you Motorcycle News for recognising this fantastic product,” she concluded.
