Beissbarth UK Introduces Automatic Wheel Washer
Beissbarth UK is introducing a new easy use Drester W-750 fully automatic wheel washer to their range which cleans in approximately 30 seconds. Additionally, the company showcased its new hope for the future of wheel alignment, the Easy 3D, at the Automechanika Show. Beissbarth believes that the machine will save workshop space, requiring little room in which to work and easy storage capabilities.
The Drester wheel washer gives wheels a low environmental impact wash that aspires to generating a show-room sparkle. The company claims that the relatively short payback time on the machine can also have a similar effect on the balance sheet, boosting profits in a comparatively short space of time.
The machine represents an evolution of the company’s previous wheel washing offering. When Beissbarth added the Drester Wheel Washer to its range over six years ago it found a new and diverse market. It marketed the Drester model on the basis that it met the needs of both vehicle restorers and major vehicle manufacturers, especially those with high output for vehicle preparation of company vehicles for the dealer network.
Beissbarth UK’s Philip Hodges states: “There are huge benefits to investing in this Drester. As well as making the wheels look spotless, the machine tackles the accumulated dirt and brake dust that can gather at the back of the wheels, giving longer lasting precision when wheel balancing.
“A more effective handling of tyres and wheels greatly improves production flow in the modern workshop. Dirt and dust stays in the wheel washer so there is less wear and tear on other equipment. The Drester safely cleans all kinds of wheels including SUV and Run Flat-tyres with no impact on the tyre. It also enables simple hairline cracks to be seen in the wheel surface which could lead to the eventual failure in the wheel assembly.”
The Drester works by blasting water containing small plastic granules and detergent at the front and back of the wheels. The machine works automatically and without interruption until the last wheel is cleaned, meaning that it can offer the benefits of all fully-automated systems with obvious time-saving abilities.
The Wheel Washer’s environmentally-friendly claims stem from its use of a biodegradable detergent. It separates water and dirt particles by sedimentation. Beissbarth says that the sediment can be removed manually or with the Drester water cleaner, then the filtered clean water can be let out into the drain.
New alignment prototype on show
Nestled amongst its current product line-up at the recent Automechanika show in Frankfurt, Germany, was a prototype of Beissbarth’s latest generation 3D wheel alignment. Called the Easy3D, the new system builds on the tried-and-tested Beissbarth reference system and therefore combines the benefits of an open 3D system with a familiar user-friendly user interface. In addition, the camera used in the company’s KDS.NG axle measurement system is also used here.
The low measuring station width – 600mm to the left and right of the vehicle is all that is required – saves space in the workshop. The measuring heads are mobile, allowing for use in both small workshops and at different measuring stations. And when the system is not in use it can be stored away compactly in the workshop. Speaking about the prototype, Andreas Andorfer, managing director of Beissbarth GmbH, said: “Easy3D offers an especially ‘smart mix’ of customer benefits, which is unique in this form: the mobile system is easy to handle, saves space and is flexible in its uses.” The 3D wheel alignment system will be ready for series production and market ready in mid-2009.
