OTR Tyres to Manage Shanks EM Tyre Requirements
OTR Tyres has recently secured a long term contract with waste and resource management company Shanks East London to handle the firm’s onsite earthmover tyre management requirements. The earthmover tyre specialist has taken responsibility for Shanks’ six sites and 15 loading shovels.
“The OTR contract gives fixed costs for tyres and tyre maintenance and are therefore totally budgeted for by Shanks, with no sudden, unplanned or unpleasant experiences – important when a set of tyres can cost £12,000 plus” said OTR waste industry manager Paul Tracey. The parameters for the contract are set by a number of factors including working hours, known tyre wear, expected damage and repairs.
Agreements such as this utilise TotalTyreLogic – OTR’s complete ‘cradle to grave’ earthmover tyre service. Through regular onsite inspections, the company will monitor tyre wear and usage and organises rotation, replacement, repairs and retreading as required to ensure tyre life is maximised with running costs and downtime minimised. “TyreLogic, the online element to TotalTyreLogic, differentiates the company’s tyre management programme from any other as it enables earthmover tyre users to retrieve secure, up to date fleet information at anytime, anywhere, through the OTR website,” Tracey added. “This is a vital tool, tracking tyre performance and providing data for forward planning and replacement.”
“OTR’s unique management and operation service has allowed us to get on with our own business,” commented a Shanks spokesperson. “In the main we hear little about our heavy plant tyres as OTR plan changes and repairs themselves and our site managers know exactly what their costs are.”
