Michelin to Reduce Production at Olsztyn, Poland Factory
According to AFP, Michelin has announced production cuts at its Polish facility due to falling demand. “It’s a question of adapting to current market conditions, with a drop in market demand,” Michelin spokeswoman Sorina Neculescu told the news agency. “We will carry out regular production halts from next week. They will last from a few days to two weeks. Decisions on continuing the halts or resuming work will be taken in real time, based on market conditions.”
During these breaks in production, employees at Michelin’s Olsztyn, northern Poland facility will either take their winter holiday or take attend training courses, Ms Neculescu said, adding that Michelin does not “foresee any redundancies.”
The factory employs 4,000 people and produces passenger car, truck and agricultural tyres for the domestic and export markets. Just over a year ago the company announced plans to boost capacity at the Olsztyn plant to 15 million units per annum, with capacity to be further revised in the mid-term to 20 million units.
