Michelin Canada to Work With African Nova Scotian Agency
In Canada, Michelin says it is placing an emphasis on employing Nova Scotians of African origin. According to Nova Scotia based newspaper The News, the manufacturer made this pledge on November 24 in partnership with the African Nova Scotian Partnership network and the provincial government. As part of the agreement, Michelin will share information on its hiring process with African Nova Scotian career centres across the province, where job opportunities are posted.
Janet Kennedy, director of personnel for Michelin Canada expressed the company’s commitment to introducing diversity into its workforce. “Partnerships like this are critical, as Michelin looks to tap into that talent and open doors for increased diversity,” she said
Barry Barnett, minister of African Nova Scotian affairs said this partnership is the first of its kind. “It’s an international company working with the community to develop skills and career opportunities in this industry., Barnett said in a press release. “At the same time, it will assist Michelin in its desire to expand its workforce.” Barnett added that the parties involved say they will continue to address short- and long-term action plans, including setting goals and aligning values with measurable results.
