Apollo Tyres Buries Hatchet with AITA
Apollo Tyres has told news sources today that the company has resolved its “issues” with the All Indian Tennis Association, stating that officials within the sporting organisation had in fact “appreciated” the support offered by the corporation. On Thursday 21 November, vice president P Karti Chidambaram and other AITA officials visited Bangalore’s Tennis Village, meeting CEO of Apollo Neeraj Kanwar.
Apollo offered the olive branch of an invitation to AITA to view its academies after AITA questioned Apollo’s motivation and the veracity of claims made in adverts referencing “Mission 2018”. The project aims to have an Indian Grand Slam winner by 2018.
Avik Chattopadhyay, head of corporate marketing of the tyre manufacturer, told journalists, “They came and saw the facilities. They met with the children and parents. They understood the seriousness of the project and appreciated that it was a complimentary project and not contrary to them. They were satisfied with what they saw.”
