PDP E-learning Programme
Premier Distribution Partnership (PDP) has announced the launch of a unique E-Learning programme to the UK garage trade. The E-learning programme is a CD based comprehensive diagnostics training programme and is a development of the PDP’s Diagnostic Support Programme, a series of on site training courses lead by Frank Massey, which was launched in January 2008.
Tony Parr, PDP Chairman and Managing Director of PDP member BMS explained “The original Diagnostic support programme was launched in January 2008, to tremendous trade support and with over 2000 attendees at the regional launch evenings. The E-Learning programme now takes this one step further and is a full diagnostics training programme in DVD format, which allows mechanics to update their knowledge of the latest diagnostic techniques without having to leave their busy workshops, resulting in no unnecessary travelling, loss of income, or time away from the business. Frank Massey passes on his knowledge and skills built up over 38 years of running his own highly successful repair workshop, in an easy to understand and follow format, at a pace and time the viewer controls.”
The E-learning programme training DVDs start with a foundation course outlining the essential skills necessary to successfully operate a diagnostic service, together with a genuinely independent view on getting the whole thing started. Hardware considerations, as well as issues of investment and finance are covered, together with best practice workshop control and administration procedures, in a module which is applicable to both start up operations or to those garages who want to develop an existing diagnostic service.
Second in the series is a comprehensive programme on common rail diesel engines, based around understanding the limitation of the test equipment, interpreting the data and demonstrating sound diagnostic techniques and principles to reach an accurate and confident repair conclusion.
To support these two main modules, additional DVDs are available, comprehensively covering topics including Turbo System Testing, CAN Network, Serial Logging, Serial Data Evaluation and ABS Testing. The latest modules to be launched cover training on the use of the PicoScope Oscilloscope and Fluke 196 Oscilloscope, with further modules to be launched in 2009. Each course or module is fully endorsed and accredited by the IMI (institute of the Motor Industry) and contributes to CPD (Continuous Professional Development) points.
The E-learning programme is available through any PDP member, either as individual modules or as a complete programme which enjoys a significant discount.
