New Features Added to TireVigil System
Tyre pressure monitoring and asset management producer TireStamp Inc. has announced the addition of two new features to its TireVigil tyre pressure management solution for fleet customers, a system that detects tyre problems, alerts the fleet to them and makes recommendations to the service technician for corrective actions.
The number one issue with other electronic TPMS systems, says TireStamp, is that reprogramming tyres that are changed is difficult and time consuming. TireVigil now directly addresses this problem with a simple yet powerful system. TireVigil Servicing allows a service technician to view the state of a vehicle’s tyres at a glance on any internet enabled computer or hand-held wireless device. Clear images of the vehicle’s tyres are shown, displaying tyre position, tyre pressure and temperature, target tyre pressure, sensor and tyre ID. The tyre make, model and mileage can also be accessed. The tyre technician can enter tyre changes and rotations quickly and easily with a touch on the screen or a click of a mouse. Manual data entry is virtually eliminated, reports TireStamp.
“The fleet can get a daily work order of any tyre issues it has before vehicles are dispatched so it can be proactive and correct these problems before they become costly road delays,” said Peggy Fisher, President of TireStamp. “It can also receive alerts for problems that develop while equipment is on the road or when it returns to the depot. Cold inflation pressure is accurately calculated so false alarms are eliminated and technicians are advised of exactly how much pressure to add to tyres. Imagine never having to manually check the tyre pressure in all your tyres ever again!”
With the addition of a second new feature, TireVigil Mobile, TireVigil places tyre intelligence at the point of activity in the service bay, vehicle yard or check lane where the work is being done. TireVigil Mobile provides all of the features and benefits of the normal computer based TireVigil system, but uses a cellular or Wi-Fi data connection so users are not tied down to a desktop computer. TireVigil Mobile can perform a vehicle tyre pressure survey during a pre-trip inspection, while the vehicle is on the move or as a part of regular vehicle service. TireVigil Mobile currently supports RIM Blackberry and any Windows Mobile 5.0 compatible Smartphone or handheld. With this innovation, a fleet manager doesn’t even have to be in the office to get notifications of tyre related issues in the fleet.
