Kwik-Fit Reveals ‘7 Blunders of the MOT World’
So your car didn’t pass its MOT inspection…according to Kwik-Fit, odds are better than half that the vehicle failed to make the grade due to problems with one (or more) of seven very everyday components.
The company’s research showed that seven most common MOT ‘fails’ account for 55 per cent of all failures. The most common of these is tyres, accounting for 13 per cent of all failed MOTs. This is followed by brakes, at 11 per cent, windscreens 8 per cent, headlamps 7 per cent, registration plates 6 per cent and suspension and exhaust systems both accounting for 5 per cent of failures.
Significantly, many of the top seven failure codes are also safety related and are particularly relevant as we head towards winter. Even a misaligned headlamp bulb can cause danger if it temporarily blinds oncoming drivers.
The fast fit chain adds that while motorists have for over 30 years been coming to Kwik-Fit for repairs, brakes, tyres and exhausts, many might be surprised to learn that nowadays they can fix all of these problems. Indeed, Kwik-Fit even has a solution for chipped windscreens and can supply and fit new registration plates.
“People might be surprised to see that so many cars fail an MOT due to such a small number of problems,” commented Kwik-Fit customer services director David White. “Kwik Fit are already market leaders for tyres, brakes, exhausts and MOTs and it’s great that we can now help out motorists even more. Of course, we’re also now the UK’s largest car servicing chain, so those that want to keep their car tip top all year round can also benefit from our amazing servicing deals.”
