International Tyres Pushes Sumo Brand Forwards in UK
For the highly competitive truck market, International Tyres & Trading acts as the sole UK distributors for the Sumo Firenza range which continues to gain ground as a mid-range option, particularly for small to medium sized haulage fleets who consider tyre costs per mile to be very important. Sumo Firenza tyres are manufactured in the Far East, incorporating Japanese technology, and have six pattern ranges for a number of specific applications.
The Firenza SSR05A pattern is for steering and trailer usage courtesy of the tyre’s wider tread and flatter profile for excellent mileage return and smooth drive handling. For the Super Single sector, the Firenza SSR055A pattern is available in size 385/65R22.5. Other patterns in the Firenza range include the SSD08, SSM07 and SST07, which are all designed for various driving positions as well as all-positional use, offering a tread pattern designed for impressive traction on all types of road conditions. All Firenza truck tyres incorporate a solid shoulder construction with zero angle steel band ply to protect against irregular wear.
International Tyres has established a growing base of strategically located regional partners in order to provide a fully functional regional delivery service to customers for the Firenza brand. Managing director, Paul Jackson says, “The brand is now a popular option for our truck customers as once fleets have had an opportunity to fully access the tyre’s impressive appearance and rugged construction they can immediately appreciate that Sumo Firenza are a very good mid-range budget brand with a highly competitive price.”

International Tyres will also look to benefit from the launch of Sumo’s first van tyre, the Firenza SV053 which in due course will become available in up to nineteen size options. The SV053 pattern offers excellent grip in wet road conditions, a high mileage return plus a quiet and comfortable ride and has a very specific European design and dimensions, so that this new pattern is readily accepted right across all European markets. This latest van pattern comes hard on the heels of Firenza’s ST07 PCR range which was introduced earlier in the year.
When it comes to the truck sector, Firenza has also just introduced a new size, 295/60R 22.5 to its range which is a steer and drive designed pattern. Further sizes have also been introduced in the company’s all position range. The manufacturer also offers an ever expanding range of quality wheels marketed under the brand of Stamford Sport Wheels (SSW). The company opened a second state-of-the-art wheel production plant in Thailand several months ago, further enhancing its image and production capacity.
Established in 1990, West Midlands-based International Tyres has progressively evolved into one of the largest and most active independent tyre wholesalers in the UK. From the company’s Oldbury headquarters close to the M6 providing easy access to all major UK road networks, International Tyres concentrates mainly on the truck sector of the market, while also offering a responsive service in PCR and agricultural tyres.
