Exide Develops Evolution for the Evolving Car
Today’s advanced cars require advanced batteries. It’s no longer possible to simply select a replacement battery based on size and type of vehicle alone because many other factors influence battery selection. Within a single vehicle model line-up a range of engine types, power output levels and “in-car” electrical accessories are available, and end user fitments add further uncertainty to the ‘what battery is right’ question – the demand placed upon a battery varies widely. Modern vehicles also operate in vastly differing conditions, from short but intense urban driving conditions to longer sustained driving, and regardless of driving conditions, extreme heat or cold have always been factors for consideration.
All of these factors obviously affect battery performance, and therefore influence any decision on a battery’s energy requirements. Exide has responded to this challenge by developing a product line-up that helps the motorist and the installer to identify the best automotive battery for their specific vehicle needs. Known as Exide Evolution, the programme covers the complete Exide light vehicle product offering and is segmented into three distinct product ranges. These ranges are branded Classic, Excell & Premium.
The Exide Premium brand is a high performance range that, reports Exide, delivers a combination of high energy, high capacity and high starting power. Covering more than 97 per cent of vehicles on the road in Europe, the Excell range is said to offer excellent performance and the level of quality associated with the Exide brand whilst Exide Classic caters for vehicles with lower electric demands.
The Exide Evolution programme launched in the UK on 1st October 2008 with a three month advertising campaign in trade publications This launch has been supported by a point-of-sale package, a new e-catalogue and a full website, exide-evolution.com, with application information and product interface.
