Tonal Enrichment from Quicksilver
When the new Jaguar XKR-S hit the streets of Europe, it will be a very rare beast indeed. Only 200 of this exclusive model are being built, 50 of which will be sold in the UK. The XKR-S is powered by Jaguar’s acclaimed 4.2 litre V8 supercharged engine – tuned to develop 416 Bhp and a peak torque of 560Nm – XKR-S has been developed for the true Jaguar enthusiast. An exhaust system for this formidable motor can be supplied by Quicksilver: The new catalyst-back ‘Sports’ exhaust system, designed to give this cat a roar – when desired.
The original factory silencers are cleverly designed, comments Quicksilver, but perhaps a little too muted for many enthusiasts’ taste. The QuickSilver team have thus engineered their exhaust’s internal design to allow the volume and flow to increase in proportion with rpm. This produces a deep tone at low speed and rising in pitch volume and crispness as revs increase.
Quicksilver haven’t stopped at beefing up the tonal experience solely for Jaguar drivers, either. The company states that it strives to be at the forefront of development, whether it be incorporating the very latest materials and utilising the best manufacturing processes or developing systems for the world’s finest cars as soon as it get the opportunity. And this opportunity now beckons…
The new 1001bhp, 250mph Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is billed as being the fastest open-top production car available on the road today. Unfortunately, says Quicksilver, it still had to adhere to certain sound regulations when the exhaust was designed – leaving some owners, as the Surrey based manufacturer subtly puts it, slightly unsatisfied, given the full potential of this fabulous sports car. To put a smile back on the faces of these Veyron owners, Quicksilver has engineered a new ‘SuperSports’ system especially for the Grand Sport that is intended to offer better sound, weight and look all in one.
More than seven kilograms lighter than the original equipment titanium exhaust, the Quicksilver system weighs in at 11.6 kilograms and is constructed from highly polished stainless steel, which Quicksilver says improves the look of the car as the exhaust becomes visible when the spoiler rises.
Producing performance stainless steel exhaust systems since 1973, Quicksilver today enjoys a global clientele. More than 80 per cent of the company’s business is mail order to both client and trade customers around the world, and all products are backed by a 25-year anti-corrosion guarantee. The company is ISO 9001 accredited – a claim only about three per cent of UK businesses can make.
