High Ambitions For Sailun Tyre

Sailun Tyre is a company that epitomises the rapid technological advances made by Chinese industry in recent years. Although it was only established six years ago, Sailun has plans to expand significantly.
The company is situated in the National Economic and Technological Development Zone in Qingdao and manufactures all-steel radial truck tyres. However, its ambition is to build three modern factories to manufacture a range of medium truck radials and bias and radial special tyres, as well as the existing range. These plans also include a dedicated test track to be used in the development and evaluation of new products.

Sailun has already invested heavily in R&D, utilising CAD software to build mathematical models for finite element analysis, refining the design of a tyre and predicting its behaviour and performance while still on the screen. The company boasts a very short development time for new products and has established long-term co-operation in science and research with institutions such as the National university of Defence Technology and the Qindao University of Science and Technology.

Sailun says that it will continue to develop high-end radial tyres, while keeping a close watch on international markets and its aim is to establish a high quality and energy efficient technical system in order to boost the competitiveness of the Chinese tyre industry in world markets.

When designing a new tyre, Sailun takes into account the conditions of the region in which it is to be used, for example Europe or the USA, and adjusts the design accordingly. The export market is one where Sailun is keen to expand, although it currently sells as far afield as North and South America, Australia and Europe and, according to the company, demand exceeds supply. Its products have been granted European ECE and American DOT certification, plus the company meets ISO 9001:2000 quality standards.
Domestically, Sailun has ambitions to be regarded as a national brand and it has built a sales network across China, offering marketing and after-sales service support.

Expanding Product Range

In order to meet the needs of the various sectors, Sailun is constantly adding to its product range and three recently-introduced tyres are the S911, the S818 and the S618.
The first of these, the S911, is a traction tyre with an aggressive, directional tread designed for on/off road usage such as quarries or logging. It has excellent self-cleaning properties and the extensive siping improves wet grip.

The S818 is a tyre designed for highway use on any coach or truck axle. It has low rolling resistance for better fuel economy and the siped tread blocks and horizontal grooves improve traction and grip.
New tyre number three is the S618, which is again a tyre designed for all wheel positions on coaches and trucks and boasts all the same features as the S818.
