The Eagle Has Landed…in the UK
Wheel alignment has traditionally been one of the most challenging daily jobs in the workshop, mainly due to the costs of employing specialised personnel available and the risk of losing valuable time after discovering that a vehicle’s alignment does not need to be adjusted. Due to these factors, alignment is often only carried out when visible signs, such as uneven tyre wear or steering wheel misalignment, indicate bad tracking.
The routine inspection of alignment upon receiving a vehicle into the workshop was previously not a viable practice. The main issue was how to obtain pre-alignment data for a vehicle without prior preparation, such as the fitting of targets/sensors to the wheels. With the new Eagle ‘Non contact’ system from ATT-Nussbaum, supplied throughout the UK though JIA Sources International Ltd, the ability to conduct such checks is now practicable.
The non-contact, or touchless, Eagle has already revolutionised the wheel alignment industry in Europe, reports JIA Sources. The amalgamation of the unit’s fully automatic compensation process with a high end non-touch measurement system means all the operator needs to do when conducting a wheel alignment pre-check is to drive the vehicle onto the lift, select the appropriate vehicle type from the computer database, press enter and stand back. It is, JIA Sources adds, true non-contact, fully automated four wheel alignment within four minutes.
