Alabama-based Robbins LLC is claiming world leadership in its field thanks to its range of Accu-Fit CMT envelopes. CMT stands for Compression Moulded Technology and is designed to eliminate splicing, improve pliability and gauge consistency while extending envelope life – all of which helps bring down the cost per cure.

Robbins envelopes can be used with all systems and accommodates a wide range of temperatures. The system is said to improve retread appearance and optimise envelope durability. The range is extensive, with envelopes for small industrial tyres, right up to large OTR tyres. Other products include the company’s range of Uni-Tubes and a comprehensive assortment of curing tubes.

On the custom mix and custom calendaring side of the business, Robbins uses state-of-the-art equipment and there are technical members of staff specifically trained to develop custom formulations to meet customers’ specifications. As always, great emphasis is placed on quality control and there is a Lot traceability system in use for all raw materials. Robbins CustoMix now offers state-of-the-art mixing, calendaring, extrusions, and auto clave curing as well as dedicated colour mixing lines. The rubber calendar can process sheet rubber products up to a maximum of 60-inch wide and there is a 9′ x 50′ indirect steam autoclave to meet special curing needs.
Since its foundation over eight decades ago, it is not just Robbins’ product range that has expanded, as the company now exports its products worldwide, via a network of distributors, offering a fast and efficient service.

Robbins LLC was founded in 1921 as a manufacturer of inner tubes. With the advent of the tubeless tyre, the company’s product line changed, to include rubber and curing tubes for the retreading industry. At the time, retreading was predominantly mould cure, but pre-cure retreading was gaining in popularity and once more Robbins demonstrated its market awareness by adding a range of precure products to its portfolio. In fact, Robbins proudly claims to be the world’s largest manufacturer of envelopes for the precure retreading process.
