John Bean Unveils ‘Prism’ Mobile Alignment System
John Bean, a brand within Snap-on Equipment, has introduced the Visualiner Prism, a mobile wheel alignment system ideal for workshops with lift bays unsuitable for a full 3D alignment machine. Prism is a hybrid of Charge Coupled Device (CCD) and 3D alignment technology and enables a run-out compensation procedure to be undertaken to ensure precise wheel alignment.
Accurate wireless data communication is ensured through the use of Bluetooth technology, which provides uniform alignment readings on vehicles ranging from small cars through to vans. The system also features long-life rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, with sufficient power reserves to last three days, based on three to four alignment checks per day. Furthermore, the batteries are software-controlled, providing an early low power warning to prevent interruption of an alignment procedure.
Prism is designed for ease of calibration and features rear wheel measurement ‘pods’ which can be returned to Snap-on Equipment for routine servicing and exchanged for a new unit to minimise workshop downtime. Other benefits include easily understood colour graphics that automatically guide the technician through the alignment process and a colour printer for pre- and post- alignment reports to be presented to the customer. Records are also stored and updated on the system, providing a full audit trail.
“By combining proven CCD technology with advanced 3D measurement, Prism is the ideal solution for workshops requiring a fully mobile aligner, or for those with lift bays unsuitable for a full 3D system,” comments Chris Behan, general manager, Snap-on Equipment. “With the introduction of Prism, we can provide workshops with the right wheel alignment solution to suit their business, both now and in the future.”
