Triangle Presents Diamond Back Range at Reifen
In its more than three decades of operation Triangle Tire has grown to become one of China’s top tyre manufacturers in terms of output. Annually the company produces, says Triangle, around 20 million units. Of this figure, radials account for as much as 16.5 million units, and the company claims to be the largest tyre manufacturer and exporter in China.
At the Reifen show sales manager Victor Wang spoke with Tyres & Accessories about numerous recent developments at Triangle Tire. Of particular significance, commented Mr. Wang, is a new product line introduced by the company. Called Diamond Back, the passenger car and SUV range is available in four distinct patterns, including the UHP TR968. Boasting some 20 sizes between 17 and 24-inches, the W and V speed rated range offers, says Mr. Wang, low rolling resistance, a high grip tread compound and rim protection flange on the sidewall.
Also from Diamond back is the TR777 winter product range. This line-up for passenger cars and SUVs, is currently available in approximately 15 sizes. Featuring a V-shaped directional tread, silica compound and dual centre rib the TR777 represents a full winter range, said Mr. Wang. However he added that more sizes were on their way.
For the truck tyre segment Triangle brought to Essen several new sizes specifically designed for the European market, including the TR680 in size 295/60R22.5 size. This Europe-designed tyre is available in patterns for two fitment positions, steer and drive. Also available for both steer and drive fitments is the latest size for the TR685, the 315/70R22.5.
Developments have taken place too in Triangle’s radial OTR segment. Mr. Wang reiterated the importance of the company’s OE agreement with construction and mining equipment manufacturer Caterpillar, a partnership already in place for several years. “Our supply to Caterpillar represents an ever more important direction for Triangle,” commented the sales manager. Another development across the radial OTR tyre range, he said, was the introduction of different compounds that could be specifically applied for tyres used in particular environments. Mr. Wang commented that three different compounds – developed by engineers formerly employed by a leading global OTR manufacturer – were available for the entire radial OTR range – standard, cut resistant, and heat resistant.
