New Grid Technology From Varta
Longer lifespan, greater reliability and far more accessible cold starting energy are all claimed as benefits of PowerFrame; a new battery grid technology being used in the Varta Trio range of car batteries. The application of PowerFrame technology in Varta Silver, Blue and Black Dynamic batteries has been made possible by the introduction of an advanced manufacturing process for the battery’s positive grid, with the high precision process ensuring consistent and stable grid quality.
Without a frame on all four sides, traditional ‘expanded’ technology battery grids have an irregular, weaker structure, whereas the PowerFrame design provides a stable and complete framework to minimise grid growth, corrosion and prevent short circuits for longer service life.
Consistently higher starting power is achieved by placing more lead where electrical current is greatest, enabling faster recharge acceptance and optimal conductivity.
The high precision punching process now used by Johnson Controls in the manufacture of all Varta car batteries also reduced grid corrosion, which previously led to the alloy plate becoming brittle, to a minimum. It also brings environmental benefits due to a cleaner and more efficient production process.
For the consumer, PowerFrame means improvements in all critical aspects of car battery performance at no extra cost.
